Sale-a-Bration ending soon...

Hi everyone!

Since there's only 11 days left of Sale-a-Bration, I thought I'd post a few cards that I made using some of the FREE stuff you can earn!  And if that doesn't convince you, I don't know...!

This card features 3 different SAB picks.  The first is the scalloped "for you" flower stamp.  It's from the free set "Punch Bunch".  All of the images in that set are perfectly coordinated with various punches.

The polkadot scalloped circle was punched out from the Ice Cream Parlour designer paper & quick accents pack.  It has 9 sheets of patterned paper as well as 2 full 12x12 sheets of self-adhesive diecuts.

The third SAB item is the cute ribbon which is from the Ice Cream Parlour Ribbon & Buttons pack.  It's nice these 2 SAB items coordinate - makes cardmaking "easy peasy"!

This card is one I made for a tradeshow fundraiser coming up on April 9th.  The Pink Ladies Ride for the Cure is putting on a ladies night event and I will be there selling my cards and giving some goodies away!  Contact me for more info on that.  So in honour of the event, I thought I should have some breast cancer related cards on hand.  From the newly diagnosed to the triumphant conquerers of breast cancer, everyone loves a good card!

The swirl is from the Bliss set and it makes anything look elegant!  The paper is from "Lap of Luxury" collection.  I decorated with a little bit of bling too!

This card was another super easy but still very cute card to make.  The background is done with the large Woodgrain stamp.  Then I punched out scalloped squares from some scraps I had hanging around my stamping table.  On the Tangerine Tango piece, first I stamped the happy birthday sentiment from the free SAB set "Punch Bunch" (mentioned above), then I punched it out using the scallop square.

The pink and yellow buttons are also free SAB items.  They are from the aforementioned Ice Cream Parlour Ribbon & Button pack.  They're adorable little shiny things and you get 48 of them AND a 15 yard roll of the ribbon I showed you in the first card! I'd call that a deal for sure!

Perhaps the neatest SAB offer I've seen in a while is the My Digital Studio content CD.  Basically they digitized ALL the SAB choices and put them on a disc for use with MDS.  I've installed the disc of images, now I'm just having 'play time' with them.  I hope to show you something I made with it soon!

Hope you liked!

Springtime Vintage Fabric

Hi everyone!

I don't know why, but the pictures I tried uploading of recent cards keep coming up sideways.  So I went back in my files a little while until I found one that worked!

I made this card in January for my aunt's birthday.  The base colour is Rose Red.  I brought out the old retired Mellow Moss for the panel, then ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Dots embossing folder.  I just love those defined polkadots!

The sentiment is from the set Afterthoughts (which you can earn free by being a hostess).  I coloured the Happy Birthday with marker and just omitted the "Call when it's time for cake" part that typically is underneath it.  The shape that Happy Birthday is on is from the Sizzlit set "Lots of Tags".  It's one of my favorite dies that I reach for all the time.  All the cut outs go so well with other things, like punches!  The pink piece behind the sentiment is the Decorative Label punch.  I accented with 2 Basic Pearls and popped it all up with a few Stampin' Dimensionals.

Now my favorite part:  the beautiful fabric!  My kind and generous upline gave me samples of the new Springtime Vintage fabric that appears in the current Occasions Mini.  It's so cute and it just makes me want to learn to sew!!!  In the meantime, you don't have to be a seamstress to benefit from this great new product.  I simply tore 2 strips off the end of the fabric piece.  One got wrapped around the Moss panel.  The other I threaded through a matching Springtime Vintage "Big Designer Button" and made a bow.  I hot glued the button and bow onto the existing fabric strip and ta-da - a faux bow!  It's irresistable - you will want to touch this card!

Remember, Sale-a-Bration is only on until the end of this month.  If you spend $60 on your favorite products (including this fabric perhaps?) then you get to pick a free SAB item!  Also, hostesses get to cash in on another free SAB item if they host a workshop of $395 or more.

Don't wait too long...

Bliss Bliss Bliss!!!!

Hi everyone!

Tonight's card is truly elegant - thanks to the work of everyone's new favorite stamp set: Bliss.  Seriously, it's been super popular since it came out.

Part of its popularity likely stems from the fact it's FREE!  It's one of the Sale-a-Bration stamps that you can earn for free with your purchase of $60 or party of $395.

The background of this card is stamped using the flourish from Bliss repeatedly in the same colour ink as the cardstock (Close to Cocoa).  It gives a nice "watermarked" tone-on-tone look.

The scallop is from a Big Shot die and after cutting, I spritzed it with water and crumpled it up to age / distress it.  The "Thinking of You" sentiment is from Bird on a Branch.

Possibly my favorite part about this card is the embellishments.  The vintage Victoria lace was the perfect addition to the top of the card.  It is all finished off with one of my very favorite new things in the Occasions Mini - "Vintage Flower Adornments".  They come in Rose Red, Baja Breeze & Very Vanilla and they are so cute I wish I could wear them!  Oh well, my cards like wearing them too!  ;)

That's all for tonight!  Hope you like :)

SAB ends March 31st, so if you'd like to get your hands on Bliss, better act fast!

Little Surprise in my Inbox!

Hi everyone,

I've got some exciting news before I get back to your regularly scheduled content - I won a blog award!  How cool is that? Little old me!  I got a message from fellow stamper Jessie Arellano that she was passing the Stylish Blogger Award to me!

Thank you so much Jessie - I was super surprised but super honoured as well.  Make sure to visit Jessie's website too - she does some amazing cards and scrap pages.

Part of the way this award works is that after receiving it, I will do the following:

1) Thank the person who gave this award to me and link it back to their blog
2) Share 8 things about myself
3) Pass this award to 8 other individuals that I have recently discovered
4) Leave a comment on their blogs so that they can pass along the recognition!

Sounds good!  So in no particular order, here are 8 things about me:
  1. I am a cat lover! I've always had cats in my life since I was young and let me tell you - a dog just will not cut it!  (They smell funny.)
  2. I actually like winter (please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me for saying that). Seriously, it's fun! Snowmobiling, building forts and snowmen, snowboarding, the crunch of fresh snow under those super cute new boots I got!
  3. I am a big "home girl" - I don't mind travelling, but not for extended periods.  I simply love my family and hate being away from them.
  4. One of my favorite foods is my mom's chocolate chip pancakes!  Mmmm - they're even good cold!
  5. I am a Canadian Human Resource Professional (CHRP) and I'm excited to start working more in this field
  6. I do have a full time job (which prevents me from stamping 24-7) but I very much enjoy it because I work with a great bunch of people
  7. I am a fan of dry or sarcastic humour.  My favorite funny blog is David Thorne - you may remember him from Missing Missy or the Piechart one
  8. I am not a good cook. At all.  My "better half" is fantastic though! I'm so thankful to have him and also thankful he can whip up a meal worthy of a Red Seal Chef in no time.
Now here are 8 other people (again, no particular order) that I've been blog-stalking and think they are deserving of a blog award too!  Please do visit them:

  1. Jana Fetch
  2. Tammy Bendel
  3. Nicole Kowalk
  4. Carrie Sampsel
  5. Patricia Thompson
  6. Melannie Diaz
  7. Kelly Rose
  8. Ann Marie
That was great!

Now bad news is I'm having issues inserting pictures of some cards I've made lately.  It keeps putting them in sideways and won't let me rotate them.  I can't be putting in sideways cards!  Everyone's necks will be sore from staring with their ear on their shoulder!  I will try again later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks all!

Tis The Season!

Hi everyone,

Apparently it IS the season...not Christmas, but weddings!  I guess I don't really know much about weddings, or why there even is a season...but I figure there is.  It's all over the ads in the paper, photographers are popping up everywhere, there are huge conventions to showcase a whole bunch of wedding stuff!

I'm certainly glad I'm not planning one, ha ha.  Looks like a lot of work!  I am, however, content to make a whole bunch of cards for weddings!  Here are a few I've done lately:

This one was inspired by a card in the Card Creations: Favorite Occasions vol.2 magazine by Maile Belles.  I used a classic stamp set called "Fifth Avenue Floral" - it's really pretty and versatile.  Good for either line art, like you see here, or watercolouring, or layering/collaging.

The ribbon is retired, it's Kiwi Kiss coloured.  I stocked up on it because it was such a favorite of mine.

My favorite part of this card is obviously the tiny little crown hanging from the ribbon.  They are known as Trinket Crowns and can be found on Pg.24 of the Occasions Mini Catalogue.  They are so gorgeous - you can use them on cards or (if you have a hard time giving them away) you can use the included jump rings to attach them to a bracelet or necklace chain.  They would work perfectly on the Simply Adorned line of jewelery that Stampin' Up offers.

This one here was super easy to make using just cardstock, the Big Shot, a stamp set and a couple simple embellishments.

The background is embossed with a swirly embossing folder through the Big Shot machine.  Then I cut one of the tags from the Two Tags die using the Big Shot.  Conveniently, the scallop circle punch fits in it perfectly.

Around the base of the black tag, I tied a small length of Very Vanilla satin ribbon then hot-glue-gunned one of my favorite new embellishments to it - Vintage Flower Adornments.  They are so adorable and come in a package of 24 - assorted colours of Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze and Rose Red.

Hope you like!

And if there are any brides out there gearing up for your big day - congratulations and best wishes!!! :)
